1692004 1st Battalion The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment)
Joseph Plampin was born around 1912. The family lived at 2 The Mount, North Street, Sudbury.
In February 1944 the 1st Battalion saw action at Anzio in Italy and was among the first to cross the Arno River near Florence, later joining the 1st Armoured Division on the Adriatic coast. In February 1945 the battalion rejoined the 24th Guards Brigade losing many casualties in the heavy fighting during the final Allied offensive along the North East coast of Italy in the spring of 1945.
Joseph died aged 33 on 13th April 1945 and lies buried in Argenta Gap War Cemetery, Italy.
